With this work I invite the user to imagine a new kind of cultural object that can encompass many different perspectives. To see more of each 'effect' or frame, the user must move, so it's movement that brings out the connections, not standstill. People always tend to gather around objects that can unite their perspectives. Such objects are what I understand as a cultural artifacts. To those people however, the object and all the beliefs and perspectives it binds, over time simply become normal: to them it ìs reality. And so while each culture feels completely normal to the people it unites, it can appear very alien to those who aren’t a part of it. Can we not reach beyond this division of normal vs alien? Can we not step out of our frames and gather around an object that is beyond-normal, one that can bind all our perspectives dynamically? Instead of frozen beliefs of superiority, protection and defense, we could have philosophies of change and transformation 💗 The four ‘portals’ that excavate or filter parts of The Motherverse hold clues concerning time, place, growth and transformation. I imagine this object could also be a physical sculpture incorporating digital effects like veils, inviting the user to move and discover more. I created this work from scratch using Shapr3D, Nomadsculpt, Blender, Procreate, Affinity Photo, Chrushee (amazing for texture compression) and of course Meta Spark AR.
